Perpignan Noir - Winner of the 2015 Trakehner stallion grading

Model specimen for type and rideability

Impressive first crop of foals

He’s the head-turning winner of the 2015 Trakehner stallion grading, equipped with all the noble attributes of his traditional breed. Perpignan Noir completed the 14-day test in Marbach and also completed the sport test for stallions in Munich-Riem under the saddle of the internationally experienced dressage trainer Ralf Kornprobst. In 2017, Perpignan Noir presented his first foal crop, which was uniformly characterized by true-to-type, long-legged foals with good muscling. Several of his progeny also won foal shows. Outside the breeding season, Perpignan Noir is being prepared for dressage competitions in the Balkenhol stable.
Sire Schwarzgold, who was consistently bred for performance over Imperio-Consul-Seeadler, is the result of a pure thoroughbred dynasty (family 13A Cresta Star xx). He was a premium stallion and Trakehner riding horse champion who qualified several times for the National Young Stallion Championships of German dressage horses. On the dam side there are Maizauber and the successful show jumper Turnus, both proven and high-performing stallions of the Trakehner breed. Perpignan Noir results from the great and traditional dynasty T4A Pelargonie 692 (by Lowelas ox-Fetysz ox-Cancara; Trakehnen main stud, subfamily T4A1 Peggi; Birkhausen stud). This produced 35 other approved stallions, the most important of which are Pardon Go, Pascal, Payano, Pelion, Olympian Peron, Peron Junior, Peron II and Pidroneur (DK). Breeding director Lars Gehrmann described him as follows at the 2015 Trakehner grading: Perpignan Noir embodies the modern Trakehner type, he’s a pure breed. He’s the winning type that you’ve always wished for: with a large frame, long legs, effective movement combining meaningful mechanics and light-footedness in equal measure. He stands on four big feet and has a very correct conformation. On all days we saw a top-class winner; a stallion with beautiful proportions, always focused, and anyone who sees him is impressed by his grace and nobility.”
